Our Story

Bear & Bird Wines lives in the ancient riverlands of Tasmania’s Coal Valley, where time, weather, and mineral‑rich soils have been quietly doing the heavy lifting for millennia. The result is wines with real depth, wrapped in a kind of effortless elegance that we’d love to pretend was intentional.

Because we choose quality over quantity, our sustainably grown, single‑site, small‑batch releases stay genuinely small.

Sustainably grown: Our viticulture is guided by industry‑standard best practice. We’re one of only a handful of Coal Valley vineyards accredited by Sustainable Winegrowers Australia. More importantly, we work to preserve this land for the generations who will follow—whether they’re ours or yours.

Single Site: When you open our wine, you know that 100% of the wine you are enjoying is grown on our vineyard.

Small Batch: We choose quality over quantity. Every vine is grown and tended with the wine’s flavour and character as the priority, ensuring each bottle reflects the care and intention behind it.

Each bottle is a snapshot of a season, our soil, and ourslightly unhinged passion for farming.

If you pay attention, every variety and vintage tells its own story—about our children, our home, and the mood of the people stubborn enough to keep tending this patch of earth through the years.
